BEA - Aequilibrium Z - 10 capsules | Enzymatic degradation of mucilage and viscous deposits

BEA Aequilibrium Z is a concentrate designed to help marine aquariums regain a clean and stable state when organic matter accumulates. Its strength lies in a combination of enzymes and marine microbial consortia , enriched with oligosaccharides, trace elements , and metabolic stimulants, formulated to tackle the slimy layers and organic aggregates that eventually suffocate the aquarium decor and the system. With its 10 openable capsules , dosing remains simple, and the action aims to make organic compounds more digestible by bacterial biomass, and then exportable by the protein skimmer. The result: a cleaner, more stable tank, less prone to problems such as algae, bacterial films, or sludge.

  • Helps to loosen and break up viscous layers on rocks and substrates
  • Makes organic matter easier to assimilate and export
  • Clear dosage, compatible with AEQUILIBRIUM protocols

Targeted action against mucilage, bacterial films and organic aggregates

When a reef aquarium starts to develop a slimy film or accumulate deposits that stick to rocks, filter media, or sand, the system quickly loses its effectiveness. BEA Aequilibrium Z was designed precisely for these situations: its formulation promotes the breakdown of mucilage and the fragmentation of organic aggregates from various sources. These viscous layers, whether predominantly bacterial or algal, can trap nutrients, slow down nutrient exchange, and weaken sensitive organisms. Here, the product acts as a biological "helping hand": it helps to recirculate organic matter in a more manageable form.

The key point is the enzymatic process: enzymes help break down complex organic molecules into simpler elements. This allows the microbial communities in the tank to assimilate them more easily, improving natural removal, especially through the protein skimmer. The goal isn't to mask the problem, but to facilitate a return to cleaner and more consistent organic management.

Enriched formula: enzymes, specific nutrients and fast-acting heterotrophic bacteria

BEA Aequilibrium Z combines enzymes , oligosaccharides , targeted nutrients, and fast-metabolizing heterotrophic bacteria . This blend was designed to accelerate the transformation of what accumulates in a modern aquarium: organic waste, particles, mucus, fine sludge, etc. The product releases carbon and nutrients in more accessible forms, promoting more efficient assimilation by microbial biomass.

In a nutrient management strategy, this logic is invaluable: once the bacterial biomass is stimulated and fed, it more easily captures NO3 and PO4 in a coherent balance, and this biomass is then exported to the skimmer. This is why BEA Aequilibrium Z makes even more sense in tanks already geared towards bacterial growth or with well-managed carbon levels.

Precise dosage and method of administration must be followed.

The dosage is intentionally simple: 1 capsule for 500 to 1,000 liters of actual water, or ½ capsule for 100 to 500 liters . For accurate dosing, the most practical method is to dilute the contents in 100 ml of aquarium water , then adjust the quantity according to the volume. The remaining product can be stored in the refrigerator for the next application, provided care is taken.

  • Dissolve the contents of the capsule well in a little aquarium water (ideally 100 ml).
  • Pour into an area of high movement , preferably into the sump .
  • Turn off the skimmer approximately 30 minutes after dosing.

The important point: BEA Aequilibrium Z contains enzymatic components. To prevent particles from being deposited directly onto the coral tissue, it's best to add it to the sump rather than the main tank. To boost its effectiveness, the solution can be left to stand for 6 to 12 hours at approximately 24°C , away from direct sunlight, before being added.

Usage programs: maturation, resolution, maintenance

The basic protocol follows an easy-to-maintain rhythm: 4 weeks of treatment , then 1 week without treatment . After this break, the aquarist assesses the state of the system (tests, substrate appearance, stability) and decides whether to repeat or switch to a different regimen.

Maturation: useful during start-up or transfer. Use the same dosage ratio (1 capsule/500–1000 L or ½ capsule/100–500 L) according to the schedule for 4 weeks, then a one-week break. For longer maturation periods, the cycle can be repeated.

Resolution: Recommended when there are medium/high nutrient levels, the presence of slime layers, algal/bacterial films, sludge, or low redox potential. After the one-week break, if symptoms persist, a new cycle is appropriate.

Maintenance: intended for stable and clean tanks, with little deposit and a generally high redox potential. Same setup: 4 weeks, then a one-week break.

AEQUILIBRIUM Synergy: when Z takes on its full meaning

BEA Aequilibrium Z combines particularly well with BEA Aequilibrium E and BEA Aequilibrium PRO : Z breaks down and makes nutrients available, while E and PRO help to assimilate and export them more efficiently. For a comprehensive approach, combining it with Aequilibrium A also helps support the overall balance of the system. The idea is simple: each product covers a specific aspect, and together they make biological management more consistent, more stable, and less prone to unpleasant surprises.

Storage, precautions and best practices

The capsules are sensitive to humidity: they must be kept closed, in a cool, dry place , and handled promptly after opening. This product is intended for technical use in ornamental aquariums and should be kept out of reach of children. It does not contain pathogenic organisms and is not intended for animal consumption or human use.
