The role of fluorine in reef aquariums
Fluorine is a trace element naturally present in seawater, generally around 1.2 to 1.4 mg/L as fluoride ion. It is involved in many biological processes and contributes to the overall ionic balance of the reef environment.
In a modern aquarium, biological uptake, skimmer export and water changes can gradually lower its concentration. Maintaining a consistent level helps preserve a stable environment, especially in systems with a high coral density.

A simple, direct and controlled formulation
Zoanthus Lab – Fluorine solution is prepared from pharmaceutical-grade sodium fluoride (NaF), dissolved in purified water (RO/DI).
No chelator is added. Fluorine is present here in an inorganic, fully soluble and stable form. This choice ensures a reliable ICP reading and avoids interference linked to complexed forms.

Concentration and dosage
The solution is formulated according to a precise protocol:
- Concentration : 2.0 mg/mL of fluorine (F element)
- Recommended dosage : 5 mL per 100 L of water
- Effect : +0.1 mg/L fluorine
- Correction limit : do not increase fluorine by more than 0.5 mg/L per day.
Supplementation should always be based on a recent ICP analysis. In case of a significant deficit, splitting the correction over several days helps avoid sudden parameter changes.

Directions for use and storage
Dose in a high-flow area of the aquarium or in the sump. Shake well before use.
Store away from light, between 15 and 25 °C. Recommended shelf life: 12 months after manufacture.
- Product intended exclusively for aquarium use.
- Keep out of reach of children. Do not swallow. Do not ingest.
- Do not mix with acids.
- In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse thoroughly with water.
As with any trace element, excessive supplementation is unnecessary and may unbalance the water. Regular ICP monitoring remains the most reliable method for keeping a stable aquarium over the long term.
