Tropica 's Rotala wallichii is an exceptional stem plant for enthusiasts who love challenges... and rewards. With its finely cut foliage and spectacular pinkish-red color in good lighting, it transforms an aquarium background into a living tableau. It grows up to 30 cm tall and offers a magnificent contrast with surrounding green plants. Very decorative when planted in groups, it requires strong lighting and a well-established CO2 system . Soft, slightly acidic water and good nutrients are also essential to reveal its full potential. A true star for well-maintained tanks.

Native to tropical Asia , Rotala wallichii grows naturally in rice paddies, ditches and shallow wetlands in Vietnam, China, India and Thailand. In aquariums, it is known for its very fine, whorled leaves , which change color depending on the light: from soft green to intense reds when well exposed. Its slender shape and airy foliage make it a favorite choice for backgrounds or to add height to a plant bed.
A medium-growing amphibious plant, it can reach up to 30 cm in height. When submerged, its leaves become even finer and more abundant. Grown in groups, it creates a striking effect of color density, perfect for adding depth to an aquatic landscape.
Let's be clear: this plant is not for beginners . To grow in good conditions, Rotala wallichii needs bright light and a good supply of CO2. It prefers soft to slightly acidic water, with a pH between 5 and 7 and a GH hardness of 1 to 13. The ideal temperature is between 24 and 28°C , but it tolerates 18 to 28°C.
Regular filter cleaning is recommended to maintain optimal water quality. Nutrient-wise, it loves phosphate levels around 1 to 2 mg/l and a regular supply of iron and microelements . Nitrate levels should remain between 5 and 15 mg/l to avoid deficiencies or excesses.

When planting, remove your Rotala wallichii from its in vitro dish, rinse the gel well, divide it into 5 to 10 portions and space them well for harmonious growth. Plant it preferably in aquarium sand or a fine substrate. It does not require nutrient substrate for its roots; everything passes through water.
It tolerates frequent pruning well, which is even recommended to thicken the clumps and encourage regrowth. Each pruned stem can be replanted to fill out the clump. It is also a plant that provides good hiding places for small fish and adds depth to aquascaping settings.
Its inflorescences sometimes emerge to the surface, revealing small purple flowers that are as elegant as they are original. An additional touch that underlines the unique character of this extraordinary plant.

Rotala indica 'Bonsai' is an elegant and compact aquatic plant, perfect for adding volume and depth to an aquarium. With its small, rounded leaves and moderate growth, it is reminiscent of a miniature Bacopa caroliniana . Placed in groups and pruned regularly, it forms a dense and harmonious bush. Under intense light , its tips take on a reddish tint, providing a beautiful variation of color. This easy-to-maintain plant is ideal for the second or background of an aquarium and adapts equally well to classic aquariums and sophisticated aquascapes.
Helanthium tenellum 'Green' is a grassy plant ideal for creating a natural, dense carpet in a freshwater aquarium. Unlike the classic variety, this 'Green' version retains a vibrant green hue, even under strong lighting . It forms a compact and attractive plant carpet thanks to its numerous branches. Easy to maintain, it does not require complex care and grows slowly, thus limiting the need for pruning. For optimal development, a CO2 system and nutrient- rich soil are recommended. Whether for a nano aquarium or a large tank, this plant elegantly enhances the foreground.
Cryptocoryne undulata 'Broad Leaf' is an aquarium plant native to Sri Lanka , ideal for both beginners and experienced aquarists. Cultivated in vitro, it is pest-free and adapts easily to many aquatic environments. With its wavy leaves in reddish-brown to deep green hues , it brings a natural and warm touch to your tank. Undemanding, it grows well in both low and moderate lighting , and does not require the addition of a Co2 system . Its robust structure and moderate growth make it an excellent choice for creating refuge areas for your fish or shrimp. It is also an excellent mid- or background plant to visually enrich your aquatic decor.
Hottonia palustris , or Marsh Hottonia, is an aquarium plant with light and very graphic foliage . Native to Europe and Asia, it is perfect for creating a soft transition between low and tall plants. With its bright light green stems and finely cut leaves, it immediately brings a natural and airy effect to the decor. Undemanding, it grows slowly but surely, and its maintenance remains easy even for beginners. It can reach up to 30 cm in height and is ideally placed in the middle or background zone in nano tanks. It grows well without CO2, although a small contribution can boost its density. A beautiful plant, discreet but full of charm.
