Hottonia palustris , or Marsh Hottonia, is an aquarium plant with light and very graphic foliage . Native to Europe and Asia, it is perfect for creating a soft transition between low and tall plants. With its bright light green stems and finely cut leaves, it immediately brings a natural and airy effect to the decor. Undemanding, it grows slowly but surely, and its maintenance remains easy even for beginners. It can reach up to 30 cm in height and is ideally placed in the middle or background zone in nano tanks. It grows well without CO2, although a small contribution can boost its density. A beautiful plant, discreet but full of charm.

Hottonia palustris is a slender-stemmed plant native to the temperate zones of Europe and Asia. As pretty as it is useful, it is known for its bushy form and upright growth , forming dense, airy bushes. Its delicate structure is reminiscent of species such as Myriophyllum, but it is distinguished by its alternate, finely pinnate leaves , which provide a natural look ideal for aquascaping settings inspired by European wetlands.
With a height of between 10 and 30 cm, it fits perfectly into the middle zone of the aquarium. It loves cool, well-oxygenated water and grows easily in medium light. In a well-lit area, it develops a nice density of foliage, especially if it receives a little nutrients to support its growth.

Hottonia palustris adapts well to various types of tanks, although it prefers slightly acidic soft water, between 5 and 7 pH. Its ideal temperature is around 18 to 22°C, but it can withstand up to 25°C without any problem. However, above this, it begins to slow down. In an aquarium, it grows well with moderate lighting , and a CO2 system can give it a boost, especially to thicken the base.
The key to a beautiful, full clump is regular pruning of the tallest shoots . This stimulates growth at the base and prevents the stems from becoming bare. You can simply pinch off the ends and replant the cuttings to fill out the clump. Placed between light aquarium sand and a larger plant, it acts as a tie in the decor, while providing an ideal resting area for small fish.
In addition to being beautiful, Hottonia palustris is very hardy . It can spend the winter outdoors in a pond, provided it is protected from severe frost. Its creeping roots sink slightly into the soil, but it also grows very well in shallow soil. If you have a cold water tank, it will be perfectly at home, as it prefers cool temperatures to grow in full health.
It also has its place in conventional aquariums, as long as its needs are respected: correct lighting, rich soil and simple maintenance. Be careful, it is a shade-sensitive plant: if it is placed too far back or under a large plant, it risks dying. Finally, to avoid suffocating the vegetation, remember to clean the filter thoroughly from time to time to keep the water clear and well-circulated.

Cultivated in vitro, it arrives without algae, snails, or pesticides , and integrates easily into aquascapes of all sizes, even nano. Moderately demanding, it appreciates intense lighting , a good substrate, and a CO2 system if possible. A plant that is both graphic and functional, perfect for adding movement and texture.
Utricularia graminifolia from Tropica is a bit of a UFO among aquarium plants. With its miniature grass look and surprising carnivorous properties, this in vitro plant is a sensation in the foreground. It forms a pretty, dense, light green carpet , all in finesse, which dresses the aquarium floor with a stunning naturalness. In addition to its ultra decorative appearance, it feeds on microorganisms thanks to its small invisible skins , a real plus in well-balanced tanks. It loves light, thrives in soft water and prefers a dry planting to root well. With a good CO2 system and a little patience, it becomes the number one visual asset of your aquascape.
Tropica 's Rotala wallichii is an exceptional stem plant for enthusiasts who love challenges... and rewards. With its finely cut foliage and spectacular pinkish-red color in good lighting, it transforms an aquarium background into a living tableau. It grows up to 30 cm tall and offers a magnificent contrast with surrounding green plants. Very decorative when planted in groups, it requires strong lighting and a well-established CO2 system .
