Marsilea minuta is a small Asian fern that grows like a four-leaf clover. It forms a compact green carpet ideal for aquariums of all sizes. This ground cover plant does not exceed 3 to 5 cm in height, which makes it perfect for dressing the foreground. Easy to maintain , it tolerates both low light and high temperatures. In the right conditions, it develops into a veritable little underwater lawn. It establishes quickly thanks to its creeping rhizomes and forms pretty tufts that spread on their own. To maintain a well-stocked carpet, good lighting and rich soil are your best allies.

Native to Asia, Marsilea minuta is a creeping plant that resembles a miniature clover. In an aquarium, it forms a low, aesthetic carpet , perfect for those who want to create a natural and vibrant foreground. With its small cross-shaped leaves, it resembles a miniature four-leaf clover, but is suitable for underwater life. Its height remains modest, around 2 to 5 cm, and it remains firmly attached to the ground thanks to its fine roots.
It grows well in fine substrates, such as aquarium sand , but benefits greatly from enriched soil, or nutrient substrate . Once established, it sends out runners to quickly colonize the space. It is able to adapt to varied environments, but it is with a good supply of CO2 and regular nutrients that it reveals its full potential.

Very easy to care for , Marsilea minuta is perfect for both beginners and experienced aquarists. When planted, it spends its first few days anchoring itself well. Once rooted, it grows quite quickly, forming a uniform carpet. It tolerates low light levels well, but grows more compactly in bright lighting.
Without CO2, it just veers. With a CO2 system , it thrives. It doesn't like overly strong water flows, so there's no need to boost your filter too much. Also, be careful with anti-algae treatments, which can be fatal. By trimming the leaves that rise a little too much, you'll keep a nice, low-lying carpet.
Note: sometimes sold under other names (M. hirsuta, M. quatrifolia...), this Marsilea is distinguished by its very small and regular leaves , even under intense light. It is also the most stable in aquariums, even over the long term.
Utricularia graminifolia from Tropica is a bit of a UFO among aquarium plants. With its miniature grass look and surprising carnivorous properties, this in vitro plant is a sensation in the foreground. It forms a pretty, dense, light green carpet , all in finesse, which dresses the aquarium floor with a stunning naturalness. In addition to its ultra decorative appearance, it feeds on microorganisms thanks to its small invisible skins , a real plus in well-balanced tanks. It loves light, thrives in soft water and prefers a dry planting to root well. With a good CO2 system and a little patience, it becomes the number one visual asset of your aquascape.
