Calcium is one of the major elements in seawater . It plays a fundamental role in building the skeleton of hard corals (SPS and LPS), calcareous algae, giant clams, and other calcifying organisms. In a reef aquarium, it is one of the most important parameters to monitor to maintain steady growth and a stable environment.

Calcium consumption is continuous in an active reef tank. It increases with coral density, biological growth, and the intensity of calcification. A gradual decrease can hinder growth, limit calcification, and disrupt the overall stability of the tank if not properly corrected.

The Zoanthus Lab – Calcium solution is prepared from calcium chloride dihydrate (CaCl ₂ ·2H ₂ O) , dissolved in purified water.

The formula is based on rigorously selected raw materials, including pharmaceutical-grade calcium chloride dihydrate , to guarantee a pure, homogeneous solution suitable for precise reef supplementation. This choice ensures excellent readability of ICP analysis results and perfectly measurable correction.

Concentration and dosage

The solution is formulated according to a precise protocol:

• Concentration: 200 g/L of calcium (elemental Ca)
• Recommended dosage: 1 mL per 100 L of water
• Effect: +2 mg/L of calcium
• Correction limit: avoid overly abrupt corrections and adjust gradually based on ICP analysis.

Supplementation should always be based on a recent ICP analysis or reliable measurements. Usage and storage instructions

Add to a well-circulated area of the aquarium or to the sump. Shake well before use.
