The role of vanadium in reef aquariums
Vanadium is a trace element naturally present in seawater at very low concentrations (µg/L). Like many trace elements, it is not visible to the naked eye: this is precisely why monitoring by ICP analysis remains the most reliable method for controlling it.
In a modern reef aquarium, the removal of nutrients (from skimming, resins, and activated carbon), biological consumption, and adsorption onto surfaces can gradually reduce its availability. Maintaining consistent levels helps preserve a stable balance , particularly in highly active and heavily stocked tanks.

A simple, direct and controlled formulation
The Zoanthus Lab – Vanadium solution is prepared from vanadium(IV) oxide sulfate (vanadyl) pentahydrate ( VOSO4 · 5H2O ) , dissolved in purified water (RO/DI).
No chelating agent is added. This deliberate choice ensures accurate ICP readings and avoids any interference from complexed forms. The raw material is selected for its pharmaceutical grade to obtain a stable, clean, and perfectly reproducible solution from batch to batch.

Concentration and dosage
The solution is formulated according to a precise protocol:
- Concentration: 1.0 mg/mL of vanadium (element V)
- Recommended dosage: 1 mL per 100 L of water
- Effect: +5 µg/L of vanadium
- Correction advice: do not increase vanadium by more than 2 µg/L per day.
Supplementation should always be based on a recent ICP analysis . As with all trace elements, the goal is stability: it's better to adjust slowly, recheck, and then fine-tune, rather than seeking a rapid increase.

Usage and storage instructions
Add to a well-circulated area of the aquarium or to the sump. Shake well before use.
Store away from light, between 15 and 25 °C. Recommended shelf life: 12 months after manufacture.

- Not suitable for animal feed.
- In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse thoroughly with water.
