The role of molybdenum in reef aquariums
Molybdenum is a trace element present in trace amounts, generally expressed in µg/L. In reef aquariums, it is mainly monitored via ICP analyses: its presence can change with export, water changes, the use of certain resins and the overall balance of the tank chemistry.
The most reliable approach remains to correct only when a drift is confirmed through a recent analysis, then gradually adjusting to maintain a stable environment and avoid unnecessary variations.

The Zoanthus Lab – Molybdenum solution is prepared from sodium molybdate dihydrate (Na2MoO4·2H2O), dissolved in purified water (RO/DI).
No chelating agent is added. At this concentration, molybdenum is soluble and stable in its inorganic form. This deliberate choice promotes a faithful ICP reading and limits the discrepancies in interpretation related to complex forms. The raw material used is pharmaceutical grade, in order to ensure a clean, stable and reproducible composition.

Concentration and dosage
The solution is formulated according to a precise protocol:
- Concentration: 1.0 mg/mL of molybdenum (elemental Mo)
- Recommended dosage: 1 mL per 100 L of water
- Effect : +10 µg/L of molybdenum
- Correction limit:do not increase molybdenum by more than 6 µg/L per day.
Supplementation should always be based on a recent ICP analysis. For trace elements, measured and gradual adjustments remain the best approach to maintain a stable tank in the long term.

Add to a well-circulated area of the aquarium or to the sump. Shake well before use.
Store away from light, between 15 and 25 °C. Recommended shelf life: 12 months after manufacture.
