The role of copper in reef aquariums
Copper is an element present in trace amounts , generally expressed in µg/L. In reef aquariums, it is carefully monitored via ICP analyses, as its concentration must remain finely controlled : too low, it may indicate a lack of trace elements; too high, it may become undesirable in a reef environment.
In a modern aquarium, protein skimming, certain filter media, water changes, and overall water removal can all cause variations in trace values. The best approach is to correct only if a drift is confirmed , and to do so gradually to maintain tank stability.

A simple, direct and controlled formulation
The Zoanthus Lab – Copper solution is prepared from copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate ( CuSO4 · 5H2O ) , dissolved in purified water (RO/DI).
No chelating agent is added. This deliberate choice guarantees a stable inorganic solution and accurate ICP readings , free from interference caused by complexed forms. The raw material used is pharmaceutical grade , ensuring a clean, stable, and reproducible composition.

Concentration and dosage
The solution is formulated according to a precise protocol:
- Concentration: 0.2 mg/mL of copper (elemental Cu)
- Recommended dosage: 1 mL per 100 L of water
- Effect: +2 µg/L of copper
- Correction limit: do not increase copper by more than 2 µg/ per day.
Supplementation should always be based on a recent ICP analysis . For trace elements, measured and gradual adjustments remain the best approach to maintaining a stable tank in the long term.

Usage and storage instructions
Add to a well-circulated area of the aquarium or to the sump. Shake well before use.
Store away from light, between 15 and 25 °C. Recommended shelf life: 12 months after manufacture.

- Keep out of reach of children! Do not swallow! Do not ingest.
- Not suitable for animal feed.
- In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse thoroughly with water.
