The role of bromine in reef aquariums
Bromine is a naturally occurring element in seawater , generally around 60 to 70 mg/L. It participates in the overall balance of halogens and indirectly plays a role in certain biological and oxidative mechanisms within the marine environment.
In a modern reef aquarium, protein skimming, the use of activated carbon, ozonation, or repeated water changes can alter its concentration. Maintaining a consistent level helps preserve a stable chemical environment , particularly in high-flow and technically advanced reef systems.

A simple, direct and controlled formulation
The Zoanthus Lab – Bromine solution is prepared from pharmaceutical grade sodium bromide (NaBr) , dissolved in purified water (RO/DI).
No chelating agent is added. At this concentration, bromine is naturally soluble and stable in its ionic form. This deliberate choice ensures accurate ICP readings and avoids any interference from complexed forms.

Concentration and dosage
The solution is formulated according to a precise protocol:
- Concentration: 100 mg/mL of bromine (elemental Br)
- Recommended dosage: 1 mL per 100 L of water
- Effect: +1 mg/L of bromine
- Correction limit: do not increase bromine by more than 10 mg/L per day.
Supplementation should always be based on a recent ICP analysis . In cases of significant deficiency, dividing the correction over several days helps avoid any sudden changes in parameters.

Usage and storage instructions
Add to a well-circulated area of the aquarium or to the sump. Shake well before use.
Store away from light, between 15 and 25 °C. Recommended shelf life: 12 months after manufacture.

- Keep out of reach of children! Do not swallow! Do not ingest.
- Not suitable for animal feed.
- In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse thoroughly with water.
As with any trace element, excessive supplementation is unnecessary and can unbalance the water. Regular monitoring via ICP analysis remains the most reliable method for maintaining a stable aquarium in the long term.
