It is a complete base coat that can be used without any other type of substrate or gravel.
Aquarium Soil is also an active bottom layer which lowers the pH and slightly influences the chemistry of the water. This is why we recommend 2 weekly changes of 25-50% of the water during the first 4 weeks of the aquarium.
How do I calculate how much Soil or Soil Powder I need for my aquarium if I'm using it as a complete soil?
Measure the length and width of your aquarium, for example 90 x 60 cm.
Decide on the thickness of the base layer desired, for example 8 cm (on average). You will have enough product to create a thicker floor at the back and thus achieve a nice visual effect.
The calculation is: length x width x thickness divided by 1000.
In our example, 90 x 60 x 8/1000 = 43.2 L Soil/Soil Powder.
