Royal Nature produces a very pure Baking Soda . This Baking Soda is the ideal solution to increase the rate of kh in the marine aquarium.
One of the biggest challenges in new reef aquariums is maintaining a balanced mixture of Calcium (Ca) with Alkalinity (dKH).
When we dose the buffer (Sodium Bicarbonate), it affects the level of Calcium which tends to decrease. When the Alkalinity decreases, then the Calcium increases slightly.
Checking the Alkalinity level 2 to 3 times a week is very important because it is the most complicated parameter to keep constant and regular.
Alkalinity is able to buffer the pH in salt water whereas acids will tend to lower the pH. In general, natural salt water has an Alkalinity of 7 dKH. In our aquariums, we want a regulated level between 9 and 11. This value is very dependent on our salt.
Royal Nature Superior Salt Formula will help keep your alkalinity within those levels.
However, the relationship between Calcium and Alkalinity is very important. This balanced relationship between Ca and Alkalinity levels is necessary to ensure proper absorption by corals and other living things. Alternatively, it would be possible to develop the growth capacity of corals by increasing the Alkalinity of the water to levels above that of equilibrium with Calcium. A high Alkalinity level of 12 to 14 dKH is considered safe and possibly beneficial to corals. If it is necessary to increase the Alkalinity level then it is highly recommended to use Royal Nature 's Sodium Bicarbonate formula. With the use of elements of great purity, Royal Nature offers a range of complete products among the best supplements of Calcium, Magnesium and Carbonates.
The addition of Calcium and the rise in Alkalinity are important but low or high levels of Carbonates will force us to pay attention to the formation of calcite precipitates. These form losses of Calcium in the water and will require additional efforts in the dosage of Alkalinity.
Low Alkalinity can also be a factor in harmful algae growth. Both low and high Alkalinity can cause Calcium precipitation. Low Alkalinity causes precipitation in water, while high Alkalinity causes precipitation on heat sources such as heating resistors and pump motors.
Suggested balance between Calcium and Alkalinity
350 ppm (Ca) for 1.5 dKH
of 375 ppm (Ca) for 2.0 dKH
of 400 ppm (Ca) for 5.5 dKH
of 425 ppm (Ca) for 9.0 dKH
of 450 ppm (Ca) for 12.5 dKH
of 475 ppm (Ca) for 16.0 dKH
4 g. (1 teaspoon) will raise alkalinity levels by approximately 1DKH in 100 liters of water. The required alkalinity level is around 7-9 DKH.
Simply dissolve the required amount in 1-3 liters of osmosis water, shaking well. Slowly add this solution to your decantation (or to the level of the filter).
It is not recommended to increase alkalinity levels more than 1DKH per day. overdose may damage corals.
