Pogostemon deccanensis is a semi-aquatic plant native to the wetlands of South India. It is found in rice paddies, floodplains and along calm riverbanks. This species is distinguished by its slender stems adorned with fine whorled leaves, which evoke the appearance of a young conifer. This particular shape makes it a plant of choice for structuring the background of an aquarium , or for creating a plant bed in a corner of the tank. It can reach between 15 and 30 cm in height, with a very graphic appearance.

To get the best from this plant, it is important to provide it with a bright environment. Medium to bright lighting (0.5 W/L or more) will allow it to maintain a compact shape and beautiful colors. It tolerates a wide temperature range, between 15 and 30°C, and accepts a pH ranging from 5.5 to 8. Rich soil is highly recommended: whether you use a nutrient substrate or accompany it with root fertilizers, the plant will develop a strong root system.
