EHEIM - Charcoal cartridges for Liberty Filters 2040/2041/2042

For adsorption filtration - i.e. for the removal of harmful chemicals (chlorine, drug residues, etc.) - It is a specially treated carbon cartridge. Adsorption filtration is normally only needed at the start-up stage of aquariums or after treatment with medications . Under no circumstances should the filter cartridges be used for a long period (about 4 weeks) and then removed or replaced.

Bio-cartridges with extractable filter pads provide the best colonization conditions for important purification bacteria.

On the other hand, 3D Activated Carbon Cartridges remove unwanted toxins and should be used especially after medical treatment or initial aquarium set-up.

Each filter cartridge always contains at least 1 large biofilter cartridge with a volume of 240 cm3. Depending on the model, two or three additional cartridges are also included.
An additional aftermarket product is the 3D Activated Carbon Cartridge.
Small bio-cartridges are also available for various uses.
