Using the Original Tropic Marin Balling Kit
The original Tropic Marin balling liquid set includes three salt solutions A, B and C according to the well-known Balling method. The three-part method adds calcium chloride dihydrate (part A) and sodium bicarbonate (part B), while the addition of sea salt without sodium chloride (part C) maintains the crucial ionic balance of the aquarium water. This balanced calcium dosage creates the best conditions for good growth of corals and coralline algae and avoids the inevitable depletion of important elements seen in two-part methods. Separately add equal amounts of the three solutions to the tank water each day. Start by measuring the carbonate hardness and calcium content of the water. Calculate the total volume of water in the system, taking into account the volume of live rock, external filters and holding tanks. Adding 1 fl. oz / 28 ml of each solution will raise the calcium level of 10 US-Gal / 35 liters by approximately 15 ppm. Maximum recommended dose: 2 fl. oz / 60 ml for 10 US gallons / 35 L of aquarium water per day.

1 liter / 0.26 US Gal. Balling Liquid Original A, B and C contain 20,000 mg of calcium and 2800°dH (= 52 g / 1.8 ounces of calcium carbonate). Natural sea water has a calcium level of around 410 mg/l and an alkalinity of 6.5° dH. In aquariums high in alkalinity and low in calcium, the calcium concentration must first be adjusted by adding only solution A.
