High-density live zooplankton for corals and reef microfauna

BEA Mesocosm stands out for its extremely comprehensive biological consortium . It brings together different planktonic species covering a size range from 20 to 2000 microns , making it suitable for both SPS and LPS, filter feeders, plankton feeders and the entire reef food web.

Predominantly benthic copepods naturally colonize rocks, refuges, and DSBs, creating a stable microfaunal structure . This gradual establishment transforms the tank into a truly dynamic ecosystem, much more resilient to imbalances.

Biological stability and natural ecological competition

One of BEA Mesocosm's major strengths lies in its ability to establish balanced ecological competition . By occupying biological niches and consuming certain available nutrients, it limits the expansion of opportunistic organisms such as dinoflagellates, cyanobacteria, or certain bacterial aggregates.

Rather than abruptly correcting an imbalance, it works by strengthening the biological base of the system. The result: better overall stability , especially in new or weakened tanks.

Dosage and implementation in a reef aquarium

For a moderately stocked 200-liter aquarium, administer 100 to 200 ml every two days . It is recommended to dose with the lights off to optimize biological integration.

For a new setup or refugium, up to 5 liters can be used per 200 liters to heavily seed the system. Briefly turning off the skimmer and pump for a few minutes facilitates dispersion. There is no risk of overdosing.

Preservation and organic quality

Store between 8 and 12°C for 4 to 8 weeks. Shake regularly to resuspend the organisms and occasionally ventilate the contents to maintain their viability. The color may vary from light yellow to a more intense green: this variation is natural and related to the biological composition.
