In their natural environment, butterflyfish, angelfish, tengues and many others spend all day collecting food from surfaces such as coral heads and live rocks. Fish with prominent snouts, such as Lo vulpinus and Forcipiger rostris, may actually pick up pieces of food through the openings in the plastic grate until the entire portion/feed is devoured.
