The role of lithium in reef aquariums
Lithium is a trace element present in trace amounts , generally expressed in µg/L. In reef aquariums, it is mainly monitored via ICP analyses to verify the overall consistency of the water chemistry, particularly in very “clean” systems (powerful skimming, significant export, resins, regular water changes).
The goal is not to dose “at random,” but to correct only when a drift is confirmed . Gradual correction helps maintain a stable environment and avoid unnecessary variations.

A simple, direct and controlled formulation
The Zoanthus Lab – Lithium solution is prepared from lithium chloride monohydrate (LiCl· H2O ) , dissolved in purified water (RO/DI).
No chelating agent is added. At this concentration, lithium is naturally soluble and stable in its inorganic form. This deliberate choice ensures accurate ICP readings and avoids any interference from complexed forms. The raw material used is pharmaceutical grade to guarantee a clean, stable, and reproducible composition.

Concentration and dosage
The solution is formulated according to a precise protocol:
- Concentration: 0.1 mg/mL of lithium (elemental Li)
- Recommended dosage: 1 mL per 100 L of water
- Effect: +15 µg/L of lithium
- Correction limit: do not increase lithium by more than 15 µg/L per day
Supplementation should always be based on a recent ICP analysis . For trace elements, measured and gradual adjustments remain the best approach to maintaining a stable tank in the long term.

Usage and storage instructions
Add to a well-circulated area of the aquarium or to the sump. Shake well before use.
Store away from light, between 15 and 25 °C. Recommended shelf life: 12 months after manufacture.

- Not suitable for animal feed.
- In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse thoroughly with water.
