What are the characteristics of PKO:

• Eliminate phosphate bioavailability in freshwater and marine aquariums.
• It is an ionically modified bentonite used to control phosphates. It reacts with the phosphate, creating a new insoluble element and preventing it from returning to the water column. Phosphate disappears from the water column approximately 3 hours after application of the suspension.
• Phosphate disappears from the water column approximately 3 hours after application of the suspension.
• Once deposited in the sediment, the PKO will continue to bind to the interstitial phosphate released from the sediment until saturation, at which time no further binding will occur.
• It is an inert element and does not produce any type of ecotoxicity in the aquarium. It is not an algaecide.
• One kilogram of PKO can remove more than 30 g of PO4 (1 g - 0.34 ppm). Since the phosphate removal capacity of PKO depends on the amount of phosphate present in the water column, bound phosphate in the sediments, and any external sources of phosphorus still entering the system water,
• the dosage can vary considerably. It allows use with a dosing pump to disperse with reverse osmosis water in a 1:4 ratio.
