The AQUA Lifter pump is a replaceable diaphragm pump that adds water slowly to precisely reach the desired water level. Additionally, slow rehydration can reduce stress on the aquarium ecosystem. It has a built-in anti-siphon valve to prevent forward siphoning. The advantages of diaphragm pumps over submersible pumps are that they can be safely run dry and have no wires in the aquarium.
